Otherside is a large expansion of the BAYC ecosystem to the Web3 space. To help Yuga Labs rally their community around this voyage, as well as get feedback on the development, Extra Credit was tapped to produce Otherside IRL, an exclusive experience (part Web3 demo 7 part focus group), in Los Angeles for 40 lucky members of the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
INSIGHT
BAYC is all about exclusivity. When you become an ape, the token doubles as a membership, giving holders access to ape-only events and experience globally. You can even leverage your ape to launch your own commercial products. So to get these NFT holders excited about Otherside, we needed to create an intimate and exclusive experience they’d never forget.
Execution
Taking over a soundstage in Los Angeles, we brought the Otherside demos IRL, inviting 40 voyagers to show off an expansive new space inside the new Web3 metaverse. Tailored specifically toward Bored Ape holders, the event featured made-by-ape refreshments and products from community members that utilized their NFT character’s intellectual property in their businesses.
Guests were then greeted by Yuga Labs Co-Founder, Greg Solano & CCO, Figge, who shared some key insights to the development, as well as never-before-scene artwork from The Otherside. Once de-briefed, Ape holders traversed a massive virtual island created for the experience – and were able to provide Yuga Labs with crucial feedback in real time. We produced the entire event through a closed network LAN party, broadcasting the hero demo on a 32′ LED wall. To surprise each guest, we preloaded every member’s BAYC avatar for them on a personal desktop gaming setup so they could explore this new world as their own skin.
