THE ASK

To create an immersive, buzz-worthy experience for the release of Netflix’s animation, “The Sea Beast,” directed by Chris Williams, at Venice Beach.

INSIGHT

Leveraging the scenic and popular location of Venice Beach, the idea was to integrate the fantastical elements of “The Sea Beast” into the real world, thus sparking conversations and online engagement.

Execution

The campaign commenced with a sensational installation of a 50-foot purple claw overnight, captivating beachgoers with an unexpected discovery. The momentum continued with the introduction of a large 25-foot by 40-foot replica of Red, the movie’s character, positioned offshore to appear as if emerging from the ocean, fueling intrigue and excitement among spectators and online audiences alike. The huge sea beast swam from Marina Del Rey up to the Santa Monica Pier for 2 days, capturing the attention of thousands of beachgoers and pier tourists each day.
